MoP Classic P5 Balance Druid Guide
Advance the Eclipse cycle in the correct direction, refresh both DoTs during Eclipse, and consume Starsurge procs promptly.
Core resource:Lunar and Solar energy
Core Rotation
- After entering Solar/Lunar Eclipse, refresh empowered Sunfire and Moonfire; avoid reapplying outside Eclipse.
- Cast Wrath or Starfire by energy direction, Starsurge procs priority but don't interrupt key movement.
- Align Celestial Alignment, Incarnation, and trinkets with stationary or multi-target long-lived phases.
Mechanics and Opener
- Eclipse cycle:Wrath and Starfire drive Lunar/Solar energy. Real losses are usually not one fewer filler cast, but letting empowered DoTs and major cooldowns miss Eclipse.
- Double DoT:Refresh Moonfire/Sunfire under corresponding Eclipse and buffs; spread on long-lived multi-target; for short-lived targets, only apply if it pays back.
- Starsurge:Shooting Stars procs provide instant Starsurge. More DoTs on multiple targets mean more procs; consumption speed determines whether procs are wasted.
- -4 sec|Pre-cast Astral Communion to the planned energy endpoint.:Start directly in the target Eclipse instead of crawling from the midpoint.
- -3 sec|Pre-cast Incarnation/Nature's Vigil according to build.:Reduce post-pull occupation and cover pre-cast spells.
- -2 sec|Potion and pre-cast Starfire or Wrath:The first cast lands at the pull and advances Eclipse.
- 0–2 sec|After entering Eclipse, refresh Sunfire and Moonfire:Use current eclipse and opening trinkets to lock high-quality DoTs.
- Afterwards|Use Starsurge procs immediately; Celestial Alignment covers stationary segments.:Avoid wasting procs and extend double Eclipse burst.
Common Mistakes and WCL Review
- Only refresh DoTs on short-lived targets if they will tick for enough time.
- Before phase transition, don't leave Lunar/Solar energy in an awkward middle; save movement abilities for mechanic displacement.
- Cast proportion within Eclipse uptime and double DoT downtime.
- Starsurge proc waste, movement gaps, and number of targets hit by major abilities.
