MoP Classic P5 Fire Mage Guide
Protect the Heating Up chain, build a high Ignite then Combustion, and use Inferno Blast to spread high-value DoTs to long-lived targets.

Core Rotation
- Fireball builds Heating Up, Inferno Blast reliably converts it to Pyroblast! proc.
- Use Combustion when Ignite is high and target is sustainable; for multiple targets, wait for high-quality DoTs before spreading.
- Use Scorch and instant Pyroblast to fill while moving; avoid using Mirror Image/Evocation during key burst phases.
Mechanics and Opener
- Chain of critical strikes：Consecutive crits build Hot Streak; use Inferno Blast to convert a 'one crit short' state into a guaranteed proc; this is the core of the rotation.
- Ignite and Combustion：High crit damage creates high Ignite, Combustion copies the current periodic effect. Need to read trigger peaks, not press on cooldown.
- Contagion：Inferno Blast can spread high-quality Ignite/Combustion/Bomb to nearby targets; multi-target burst relies on building strong main target snapshot first.
- -4 sec｜Pre-cast Mirror Image as needed for threat.：Avoid opening crit chains being interrupted by threat.
- -3 sec｜Potion and pre-cast Pyroblast：Start with highest base damage spell to proc trinkets.
- 0 sec｜Bomb → Fireball builds crit chain.：First apply DoTs, then continuously roll procs.
- Proc formation｜Pyroblast and Fireball land together, Inferno Blast fixes chain.：Build a high Ignite without wasting instant procs.
- Ignite peak｜Combustion; immediately spread with Inferno Blast on multiple targets.：Lock the highest periodic damage of this cycle.
Common Mistakes and WCL Review
- Casting a low-crit spell when you already have Heating Up will consume the proc.
- Combustion depends on Ignite quality, not just cooldown; delay if phase transition imminent.
- Success rate of Heating Up to Pyroblast conversion and proc waste.
- Ignite value before each Combustion, number of spread targets, and movement gaps.
