MoP Classic P5 Brewmaster Monk Guide
Stagger turns spikes into sustained damage; Chi first ensures Blackout Kick uptime, then use Purifying Brew at high Stagger.
Core resource:Energy · Chi
Core Rotation
- Blackout Kick maintains Shuffle, Jab and Expel Harm generate Chi steadily, avoid capping energy.
- Light Stagger doesn't need frequent purifying; use Purifying Brew for moderate/heavy Stagger when more damage is incoming.
- When Elusive Brew stacks are sufficient, cover dense melee; save Guard and Fortifying Brew for clear spikes.
Mechanics and Opener
- Stagger:Physical damage first enters the staggered pool. Green can be delayed, yellow/red pools need Purifying Brew; only looking at current health underestimates future pressure.
- Shuffle:Blackout Kick maintains the core defensive effect, increasing Stagger and Parry. Gaps amplify both immediate and delayed damage.
- Chi Budgeting:Chi must simultaneously supply Blackout Kick, Guard, and damage abilities. Spending an extra damage ability before danger and being unable to shield is a typical budgeting error.
- -3 sec|Ox Statue, Healing Spheres, and pull point preparation:First establish grouping and self-healing retreat.
- -1 sec|Potion; use Keg Smash/Rushing Jade Wind to establish threat:Ranged pick up adds and reduce opening threat risk.
- 0–3 sec|Jab/Expel Harm generates Chi → Blackout Kick:Activate Shuffle at the earliest opportunity.
- Before first spike|Guard, and Fortifying Brew if necessary:Absorbs should land before damage.
- Stagger turns yellow/red|Purify with Purifying Brew, then maintain Shuffle.:Handle delayed damage by pool amount, not random cooldown drinking.
Common Mistakes and WCL Review
- Letting Guard drop to purify a small amount of Stagger is usually not worth it.
- Ox Statue and movement abilities shouldn't drag adds away from the group's control zone.
- Ironbark uptime, Stagger pool size, and value of each Purify.
- Energy/Chi overflow, Elusive Brew coverage, and mitigation hits.
