MoP Classic P5 Affliction Warlock Guide
Maintain high-quality Agony, Corruption, and Unstable Affliction; use Haunt to amplify Drain Soul/Drain Life chains and manage shards.
Core resource:Soul Shards
Core Rotation
- Keep three DoTs up; refresh when a high-buff snapshot appears, avoid overwriting high quality with low quality.
- Shards are used for Haunt and Soulburn: Soul Swap, prioritizing long-lived high-value targets.
- On multi-target, use Soul Swap to quickly copy; during execute, accelerate cycle around Drain Soul and shard recovery.
Mechanics and Opener
- DoT snapshotting:Agony, Corruption, and Unstable Affliction snapshot damage based on buffs at cast; compare strength and remaining duration before overwriting old DoTs.
- Soul Shards:Haunt and Soulburn consume shards, Drain Soul during execute recovers them. Shards should be invested in highest gain and highest target value windows.
- Malefic Grasp:Channeling accelerates/duplicates DoT damage and is the main single-target filler; interrupting or switching to the wrong target amplifies losses.
- -3 sec|Dark Intent, pet, and teleport circle in place:Don't let raid buffs and movement tools consume the opener.
- -2 sec|Potion and pre-cast Haunt:First hit provides target vulnerability on landing.
- 0 sec|Apply Agony, Corruption, Unstable Affliction in buff order:Let the opening trinket snapshot apply to all three DoTs.
- Buff peak|Dark Soul combined with Soulburn: Soul Swap copy/refresh:Quickly establish highest-quality DoTs.
- DoT stability|Malefic Grasp channel, maintain Haunt in key windows.:Continuously realize DoT value on the main target.
Common Mistakes and WCL Review
- Looking only at DoT uptime can mask snapshot quality issues.
- Don't spend precious shards on full three DoTs for short-lived adds.
- Three DoT uptime and snapshot strength, Haunt uptime.
- Shard generation/consumption, Soul Swap targets, and Drain Soul execute duration.
