MoP Classic P5 Destruction Warlock Guide

Immolate and Conflagrate generate embers steadily; save Chaos Bolt for trinket/vulnerability windows; Havoc copies high-value single-target spells.

Core resource:Conflagrate

Core Rotation

  • Maintain Immolate, use Conflagrate on charges, fill with Incinerate; when embers are nearly full, cast Chaos Bolt first.
  • During high-damage windows, chain Chaos Bolts, align Dark Soul with trinkets, potions, and target vulnerability.
  • On two targets, use Havoc to duplicate Chaos Bolt/Shadowburn; on multiple targets, choose Fire and Brimstone based on target lifespan.

Mechanics and Opener

  • Conflagrate:Combustion generates Backdraft stacks, reducing Incinerate/Chaos Bolt cast time. Stacks should serve movement and Ember dumping, not cap for long.
  • Conflagrate:Incinerate, Immolate generate Embers, Chaos Bolt/Shadowburn consume. Build before buff windows, spend inside is core economy.
  • Havoc:Copies single-target spells to a second target; target choice, duration, and spell sequence determine two-target ceiling.
  • -4 sec|Dark Intent, pet, and circle in place:Complete Ember startup consecutively after pull.
  • -2 sec|Potion and pre-cast Incinerate:First hit procs trinket and generates embers.
  • 0 sec|Immolate → Conflagrate:Establish sustained resource generation and Burning Ember stacks.
  • Trinkets ready/embers sufficient|Dark Soul, chain Chaos Bolts:Push highest damage spends into crit/intellect windows.
  • End of window|Combustion maintains Backdraft, leave base Embers for next round.:Don't burn resources to the point of being unable to handle target swaps.

Common Mistakes and WCL Review

  • Don't cap Embers for perfect buffs.
  • Havoc target and copied abilities should be decided in advance; placing it on a target that dies immediately wastes the entire value.
  • Ember cap time, buffs during Chaos Bolt casts.
  • Immolate uptime, Havoc copy targets, and Shadowburn execute/ember refund.
